AUDIOMETRIC EVALUATION
Audiometrice Evaluation consists of pure tone air and bone conduction testing.
PURE TONE TEST
Pure Tone Test is done to determine the degree of hearing loss and whether hearing loss is conductive or sensorineural. It also searches for the softest levels that your ears can perceive several different pitches. The results define the degree and type of your hearing loss.
WORD RECOGNITION TESTS
Word Recognition Tests are given to determine your ability to hear and understand speech. This helps us to gage the overall function of the hair cells (similar to nerve endings) of the inner ear, as well as the auditory processing center of the brain. Speech Audiometry and Speech Discrimination are two ways that we can obtain this information.
SPEECH AUDIOMETRY
Speech Audiometry is obtained to evaluate the individual’s ability to understand speech at an elevated comfortable volume. SPEECH DISCRIMINATION – Speech Discrimination is also tested to determine how much a person will understand when wearing hearing aids.
IMPEDANCE
Impedance is a test that evaluates your eardrum’s ability to vibrate, the pressure in the middle ear, the reflex action of the tiniest muscle in the body (stapedius), and the function of the eustachian tube.
OTOACOUSTIC EMISSIONS
Otoacoustic Emissions is testing that helps us to determine the health and viability of the hair cells in your cochlea. These tiny hairs are similar to nerve endings in the organ of hearing. Often times, damage to these cells can be detected even before the actual hearing loss is noticed.
DPOAE – (OTOACOUSTIC EMISSION)
Otoacoustic Emission is a testing that allows the audiologist to understand how the outer hair cells of your inner ear are working.
HEARING AID CONSULTATION
The Hearing Aid Consultation is a counseling session centered around your specific hearing needs, and the hearing deivces available to fit those needs.
